KUCHING: Bantuan Sara Hidup ( BSH) recipients have been urged to keep their personal particulars such as bank account and contact numbers updated to ensure that they will be notified on their eligibility for national healthcare schemes such as mySalam and Peduli Kesihatan Scheme ( PeKa B40).

Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong said under mySalam, those eligible in the B40 group aged 18 to 55 and their spouses will be eligible for the free health insurance coverage with benefits such as one- off payment of up to RM8,000 for those who are diagnosed with one of 36 critical illnesses and income replacement of RM50 per day or RM700 per year in the event of hospitalisation for up to 14 days.

“The payment will be channelled into the account as per the details provided by BSH recipients when they applied for BSH through the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia ( LHDN).

“That is why I urge BSH recipients to update their account and contact numbers with LHDN as soon as possible so that they will not miss out on this scheme,” she told a press conference at Sarawak DAP headquarters here yesterday.

For PeKa B40, Yong said the scheme targets eligible BSH recipients aged 50 and above as well as their spouses.

“Those eligible are set to enjoy four benefits such as free health screening for cholesterol, diabetes and so on, free medical equipment such as wheelchair, stent for heart diseases, artificial joints and other medical equipment aid of up to a maximum of RM20,000 allocation, transportation allowance of up to RM1,000 for Sarawak and Sabah as well as RM1,000 incentive to complete cancer treatment which will be given in stages if the patients complete their treatment at government facilities,” she explained.

According to her, there are currently 3.7 million eligible recipients for the mySalam scheme and 3.94 million eligible recipients for the PeKa B40.
