Boost for kampong boy to hit big time
KUCHING: Budding badminton player Isyraf Hafizin Ibrahim got a boost of confidence when he received a sponsorship from Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Abang Hipni recently.
The sponsorship was to assist the national junior shuttler to compete in a major tournament in Japan and the Malaysian Schools Sport Council (MSSM) badminton championship in Melaka at the end of this month.
“I feel proud that we have local players from Kampung Tabuan like Isyraf Hafizin who is doing well in badminton.
“He is not only representing the state but is now also representing the country in a big international competition at the end of this month,” he said.
According to Hazland, it was not easy to attain this level as the player not only has to train very hard but also display a high level of discipline during the training.
“Before this, Demak Laut has also produced footballers who have represented Sarawak and Malaysia,” he said when presenting the sponsorship to Hafizin and Kelab Badminton Tabuan.
“I hope and pray that Isyraf ( Hafizin) will do well in Japan competition and in Melaka.
“As for Kelab Badminton Tabuan, I am hoping that it can produce more calibre shuttlers,” added Hazland.
