JCI to hold ACF workshop on river pollution
MIRI: Junior Chamber International (JCI) will hold JCI Active Citizen Framework (ACF) workshop on April 6 at SUPP Piasau branch (Level 4 Hall) from 1pm to 5pm.
Organised by JCI Miri, JCI Lutong and JCI Riam, the workshop will focus on ‘Save Our River’- on river pollution and related topics.
“It has been more than five decades since JCI rooted in Miri before expanding to JCI Lutong and JCI Riam. JCI had worked closely and gained the trust of Miri City Council (MCC) in tackling river pollution such as the issue of Kampung Wireless Riverine,” stated a statement released yesterday.
“ACF is a methodology for running sustainable, needs-based projects, engaging partners in sharing resources and strengths, conducting action-based projects and monitoring and evaluating results to ensure effective impact.
“The rate of success depends not only on members but the involvement of the private sector, government sector and most importantly, the public.”
The upcoming ACF workshop will be conducted by JCI Malaysia Global Goals Commission chairman Joyline Chai, with emphasis on Miri River and the polluted and dirty river mouth along Kampung Wireless.
“During low tide, rubbish is exposed and smelled, a rather unfortunate sight for Miri as a city focusing on tourism. Once participants recognise the seriousness and the root of problem, they could then come up with suitable solutions to tackle the issues.
The organising team will compile a full set of solution report and present it to the city council for adoption, added the statement.
