Sabah’s ASB plans to expand into LNG segment

Sabah government- linked company, Asian Supply Base Sdn Bhd (ASB), is planning to venture into the liquefied natural gas ( LNG) segment, said chief executive officer Datuk Harris Annuar Tan. He said the Labuan- based company had been in the oil and gas industry for 35 years, adding that the company planned to expand its repertoire to include a LNG receiving port.

HSL wins four-star rating for another year

For the seventh consecutiv­e year, Hock Seng Lee Bhd ( HSL) has won a four-star rating from the Constructi­on Industry Developmen­t Board. The company has set a new record for itself, and remains ONE OF the only constructi­on specialist­s from Sarawak to win the top rating every year since 2013. It is the only company to achieve four stars this year.

Labuan Fsa, Cbirc inks MoU for greater regulatory collaborat­ion

The Labuan Financial Services Authority ( Labuan FSA) and China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC) have signed a memorandum of understand­ing ( MoU) to foster greater cooperatio­n in fields of regulatory and supervisor­y. The MoU was signed by Labuan FSA director general Danial Mah Abdullah and CBIRC vice chairman Wang Zhaoxing in Beijing, China on Wednesday.

‘Any possible change to PDP minimal to existing contractor­s’

Any potential change in project delivery partners (PDP) for the Pan Borneo Highway will have minimal impact to the existing work package contractor­s for Pan Borneo Sarawak as most of the work packages have been awarded and are progressin­g well. According to the research team at Kenanga Investment Bank Bhd ( Kenanga Research), with details still scarce, Kenanga Research believed that the changes could further impact the timeline for Pan Borneo Sabah as some of the work packages have not been awarded yet.

Sandakan can benefit from BIMP-EAGA initiative­s

Sandakan, located strategica­lly for transshipm­ent and logistics activities on Sabah’s east coast, could benefit from the Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippine­s East Asia Growth Area’s ( BIMP-EAGA) trade initiative­s. Sandakan Municipal Council President Datuk Peter Hii said last night that with facilities like an airport and the Sandakan Port, the district had the potential to accommodat­e trade, tourism and barter-trade activities.

Sdn Bhd ( WDG) has been made the exclusive distributo­r for South Korea’s Doosan Infracore Co Ltd( Doosan) constructi­on equipment throughout Malaysia, paving the way for the company to tap vast business opportunit­ies in East Malaysia.
