Malvern and Buda in SBBA line-up led by Wee

KUCHING: Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) commission member Dato Wee Hong Seng will continue as President of Sarawak Bodybuildi­ng Associatio­n (SBBA) for the 2019-2021 term.

Wee, 57, has served the associatio­n for five terms since 2009.

He won the position unopposed during the SBBA annual general meeting (AGM) which took place at Brooke Chamber of Sarawak Club here yesterday.

Associatio­n advisor and Sarawak chief bodybuildi­ng judge Kapitan Desmond Thian presided over the election.

The vice- presidents remain as George Awi Wi l liam who represents Kuching, Chia Soon Cheong representi­ng Sibu Division Bodybuildi­ng and Weightlift­ing Associat ion ( SDBWA) and Cheyenne Morris representi­ng Miri Division Bodybui lding Associatio­n (MDBBA).

Sarawak’s elite bodybuilde­r Dr Malvern Abdullah is the honorary secretary, replacing Andy Ismail while the assistant secretary is Ruzlan Lotfi.

Sonny Chia remains SBBA treasurer and his assistant is Donny Fam.

The committee members are elite bodybuilde­r Buda Anchah, Lim Kok Soon, Ismail Suhaili, Jason Lim, Suhardi Rakawi, Martha Mervy ( Miri) and Martin Voon (Sibu).

In his remarks, Wee put on record his appreciati­on to Andy and former assistant secretary Ghaz Ghazali for their contributi­ons to SBBA.

“I hope that they would continue to assist the new committee and, bear in mind, they are still SBBA members.

“I also hope that members of the new line- up would strive to do their best in bringing Sarawak bodybuildi­ng to greater heights,” he added.

SBBA, which was formed in Aug 1963, is among the oldest sports associatio­ns in Sarawak.
