KUCHING: The Sarawak Women and Family Council ( SWFC) honours the sacrifice, vigilance and effective policing by members of the Royal Malaysia Police ( PDRM) in maintaining law and order, ensuring peace and harmony as well as defending Sarawak’s sovereignty.

Minister of Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said their dedication over the years has contributed significantly to the drop in the crime index in Sarawak.

“As of four years back, PDRM has been in strategic partnership with my ministry and we are grateful that this strategic partnership has resulted in speedy investigation into crimes against women and children, and has brought the perpetrators to justice,” she said in a statement issued in conjunction with the 212th Police Day yesterday.

Fatimah, who is also SWFC chairperson, expressed her hope that the PDRM would continue to engage with her ministry and the people to effectively reduce the number of crimes, particularly those committed against women and children.

These crimes include domestic and sexual violence, cyber crimes such as online scams, online gaming, cyber bullying and a host of other emerging crimes, as well as others such as drugs and substance abuse, and crimes against properties.

“We pray to God that PDRM officers and personnel will be granted good health and safety so that they can continue to discharge their duties efficiently and effectively,” she remarked.
