Duties come first, Kapit police chief reminds his men
KAPIT: Members of the Royal Malaysia Police ( PDRM) are reminded that being under a leading law enforcement agency, they must discharge their duties and responsibilities with utmost commitment and dedication.
Kapit OCPD DSP Freddy Bian pointed this out in his remarks during the district-level 212th Police Day celebration here yesterday.
“As (members of) the leading agency that enforces law and order, we must always remind ourselves that being under a uniformed body, duties come first because (it is) our responsibility to look after peace, security and stability of the community that we are serving for,” he stressed.
On the celebration, Freddy said it was vital for all members of PDRM to honour and remember the services and contributions of all police veterans and the ‘silent ones’ – those who had departed.
“Many of them sacrificed their lives to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty and integrity during the early years of independence.
“That’s why every year during the Police Day celebration, we would invite them ( PDRM veterans) to attend our function where we express our gratitude to them for their services during their active years in the force,” he added.
Meanwhile, the event also held a farewell ceremony for Special Branch Officer DSP Chua Su Hua, who is on transfer to the Special Branch Sarawak at Sarawak Police Contingent headquarters in Kuching.
It is learnt that Chua has served as the Special Branch officer here for the past three years, and has just been promoted to DSP from ASP.
Additionally, Kapit police also welcomed two officers – Insp Canisius Tinggang who is attached to Traffic and Public Order Department, and Insp Siva Nadarajah attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Canisius was previously stationed in Kedah, while Siva previously served in Limbang.
Freddy later presented certificates of appreciation Chua, 14 local police personnel, and 11 members of Police Family Association ( Perkep) of Kapit.
The event also gathered local community leaders, representatives of local authorities, Civil Defence Force, People’s Volunteer Corps ( Rela), Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association ( PVATM) Kapit, and Kapit Information Department.
Apart from the police parade, the event yesterday also hosted a mass blood donation drive as well as various sports and games.
