KAPIT: Malaysian Red Crescent ( MRC) Kapit Chapter has achieved its key performance indicators ( KPIs) as far as carrying out its planned activities and delivering quick aid response are concerned.

This was pointed out by MRC Kapit chairman Dr Sia Tih Kiong during its annual general meeting at its headquarters here on Sunday, where he also thanked all members – including under the Voluntary Aid Detachment ( VAD) Unit led by a political secretary to chief minister, Nicholas Kudi Jantai – for a job well done.

It is reported that among the activities carried out by MRC Kapit over the past year were district-level World Red Crescent Day, ‘ Honour Blood Donor’ event, installation of VAD Unit committee, the cum MRCS dinner, ‘First Aid Training – First Aider At Every Home’ programme, first-aid and safety course for employees of logging companies and also electricians, immediate assistance to longhouse fire victims, as well as series of mass blood donation drives.

Dr Sia commended members for being active volunteers during times of emergency.

“To do good is to lessen the suffering of others, with no expectation of material rewards other than the satisfaction of caring for others,” he remarked.

On this year’s World Red Crescent Day, Dr Sia said it would be celebrated on May 8, with activities such as a mass blood donation drive, a visit to Kapit Hospital, adoption of ‘Red Crescent’ babies, and sales of stickers would be run.
