Seungri blames whistleblower, newsman for Burning Sun scandal

-

SEOUL: Singer Seungri has blamed a whistleblower and a journalist for all the criminal allegations brought up against him.

In a text message to a director of SBS’s investigative programme, “Unanswered Questions,” the former member of Big Bang claimed the whistleblower and the journalist “who played vital roles in bringing the issue to public attention” did not check facts properly and ruined his career for their own personal gain.

“They illegally leaked my personal information from my mobile phone and framed the act as a tip- off done for the sake of justice,” Seungri wrote in the message.

“The obscure lawyer had an interview with media … And the journalist reported the story without checking the facts properly for her own benefit.”

“Because I belonged to an agency, I could not refute against those allegations effectively. I think they knew my situation and took advantage of it.”

Chosun Ilbo, Seungri denied the allegations of sexual and financial wrongdoings, urging everyone to wait until the investigation results come out.

He told the newspaper, however, that people would not believe him even if probe results clear him of suspicions. These include directing his staff at the Burning Sun club to provide sexual services to his investors and embezzling money from business accounts.

Seungri also denied his previous statement that he was in charge of Burning Sun, saying Lee Moonho was the CEO and real operator of the club and he only invested 10 million won ( RM36,960) into the business and let him use the name of Seungri for marketing.

He also went on saying that he was not aware of any illegal activities allegedly committed there, including the alleged spiking of women’s drinks and filming of non- consensual sex videos. “I spoke with Lee Moonho about this but he always told me everything was going well with the club,” he said.
