Unimas students, teaching staff visit Pin Yen Marble and Granite factory

KUCHING: Pin Yen Marble and Granite Sdn Bhd played host to Universiti Malaysia Sarawak ( Unimas) Resource Chemistry third-year degree students at its factory in Demak Laut Industrial Estate here yesterday.

Some 87 students and one teaching staff from the university were briefed by Pin Yen personnel on the manufactur­ing process and industry-related knowledge during the visit.

According to a press release, Pin Yen is an importer, exporter and stockist for quality natural marble and granite in standard sizes and random slabs.

“This (hosting visit) is one of our corporate social responsibi­lity ( CSR) programmes. Education institutio­ns and organisati­ons are welcomed to write in to us for a visit,” said Pin Yen director Ngo Chee Hong.

“We specialise in cutting and polishing countertop­s, vanity tops, table tops and staircases. We carry a wide variety of stocks and colour choices, available for both residentia­l and commercial buildings.

“These natural stones are extracted from quarries and processed by our team of experience­d and highly motivated specialist­s, using state- of-the-artmachine­ry to fulfi ll your interior design needs or your landscapin­g requiremen­ts at affordable prices,” said Ngo.

Founded by Ngo Boon Huat in 2001, Pin Yen is committed to creating a stone company that combined old-world craftsmans­hip with cutting- edge technology.

The company now has a factory and showroom here, while the main production factory is in China.

“Beautiful and unique kitchen and bath countertop­s, elegant floors, walls, fireplaces and outdoor areas throughout Singapore, Peninsular Malaysia, Indonesia and other Southeast Asian countries are testament to the beauty of stone from Pin Yen,” added Ngo.

Pin Yen’s hand- selected, imported granite, marble, travertine and limestone grace buildings from upscale residences to hotels, restaurant­s, and businesses including Bonia, Chanel, UCSI Hotel, Menara LCDA ( Land Custody and Developmen­t Authority), Sarawak Energy Berhad, Citadines Service Suite, 360 Hotel, and Four Points by Sheraton. Its latest project is Baitul Makmur II in Petra Jaya.

Pin Yen is the region’s largest supplier of marble, granite and quartz.

Also present during the visit were Boon Huat, Tony Ngo, Ngo Kim Guan and Unimas Faculty of Resource Science and Technology senior lecturer Dr Tay Meng Guan.
