MRC Sarikei presents excellence awards
SARIKEI: Malaysian Red Crescent Sarikei District presented excellence awards to members after its recent annual general meeting (AGM).
Most Outstanding Member awards went to Die Tiong Huang ( Voluntary Aid Detachment 37); Shirley Lau Sim Ee ( SMK St Anthony Sarikei); and Pat Siew Chieng ( SMK Kai Chung Bintangor).
SMK Tinggi Sarikei won the best school youth unit annual report for 2018.
SMK St Anthony Sarikei, which represented MRC Sarikei District for the Sarawak-level Inter District First Aider Competition on Feb 22-24 in Kuching and emerged as first runner-up also received recognition.
Yap Kok Wei – who won the best youth leader award during the same competition – and team members Andrew Wong Pak Min, Grace Ling Jia Xin, Patrick Wong Jian Wei, and Jordan Lau Yee Siang also received certificates of appreciation.

Although Sarawak, and Sarikei District in particular, had been spared of major disasters, he said MRC as an active humanitarian organisation is always prepared to mobilise its response team.
He suggested the district strive to strengthen the organisational set up and improve in matters such as governance, management, volunteer recruitment and development, service delivery and funding, which are vital to remain relevant to meet the high expectations of society.
