MED to produce entrepreneurs through PLKN — Minister
ALOR GAJAH: The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development ( MED) is drafting a new module to produce more entrepreneurs via the National Service Training Programme ( PLKN), says its Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof.
He said for the development of a new model, the ministry will be cooperating with entrepreneurs from the retailing industry to train youths with entrepreneurial knowledge to venture into business.
He said the move was in line with the government’s objective to ensure PLKN would not be used to further political interests and would instead benefit the people.
“The issue of PLKN is being discussed by the Cabinet and we are reviewing for a more creative approach through the PLKN platform as there are ready facilities.
“We at the ministry want to use PLKN centres to train youths in the country to venture into entrepreneurial field especially retailing in food and drinks,” he told reporters at 2019 CARnival Automative Exhibition at the Freeport A’Formosa Outlet (FAO) here yesterday.
Also present were A’Formosa Resort group managing director Datuk Alex Lau Chir Nguan and FAO director Kenzo Lau Joo Feng.
The 2019 CARnival Automative Exhibition is displaying various models of vehicles for five days from Thursday.
Commenting further, Mohd Redzuan said the initiative was carried out to ensure the younger generation are gainfully employed in the retailing industry especially in supermarkets which are now monopolised by foreign labourers
