MIRI: Miri Hospital celebrated two accreditations for quality and safe patient care last Saturday.

Its director Dr Jack Wong Siew Yu said the hospital were accredited by Malaysia Society Quality for Health (MSQH) for four years (from Nov 15, 2018 to Nov 14, 2022) and received a certificate of recognition as Baby-Friendly Hospital from Dec 4, 2018 to Dec 3, 2021.

“MSQH accreditation for four years is a remarkable achievement which we should all be proud of. It is now recognised as a hospital which places Quality and Safe Patient Care at the forefront in accordance to the required standard. Attaining the status is not a fullstop, rather we need to live up to both patient and also MSQH ‘s expectation in our service delivery,” he said in his address during Miri Hospital 2019 Dinner at Imperial Palace on Saturday.

Dr Wong added that there are still areas of concern from the surveyors which the hospital management should rectify and improve. Touching on the hospital club, he said Sepital Sejahtera Club was established three years ago to promote healthy lifestyle among our staff and the Miri community at large.

“We started off by organising the first Miri Hospital Run in 2017 to overwhelming response with a similar run in 2018. Proceeds from both runs had helped improve facilities in the hospital.”

These include organ donation booth, acrylic display board, three nursing trolleys, ten multilevel shelves for medical records, a fridge for breast feeding mother, a computer, some furniture and also a wireless nurse call system, with a portion going to Seahorse Sutera Breast Cancer Support Group as start-up fund.
