Gerawat: Blood donation campaign one way for PBB to serve community

-

MIRI: Active involvement of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) in community-based activities such as donating blood proves the party is not political at all times, but is committed to saving lives.

PBB vice-president Dato Gerawat Gala, who is PBB Mulu chairman, said blood donation campaign was one of the ways for the party to be involved in the community.

“I know there are people who want to donate blood but do not know where.

“Through this activity, we can help the general public, especially party members to donate.

“We at PBB Mulu, in particular, do not limit ourselves to only political activities.

“We are working with relevant agencies to help raise awareness of the importance of blood donation in saving lives of others,” he said when met at the Blood Donation Campaign jointly organised by PBB Telang Usan and PBB Mulu in collaboration with the Sarawak Blood Donor Society ( PPDS) at MyMall in Lutong here recently.

Gerawat, who is also Mulu assemblyman, added that he was grateful to PPDS and the sponsors who worked together to make the inaugural campaign here a success.

He said besides donating blood the general public could have free health checks during the campaign.

Meanwhile, Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau said PBB is also a platform that benefits the people not only in terms of infrastructure development but also other aspects.

“This is the party’s responsibility and we use the party as a platform to help the people with sincere intentions,” he said, adding that it was in line with the commitment of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to serve the people honestly.

Organising chairman and PPDS chairman Robert Laing said they were targeting about 100 donors for the campaign in Miri this time.

“In addition to political parties, we are also working with the Orang Ulu associations in organising this campaign. After Miri, we will hold the same campaign in Bintulu this month, followed by Kuching,” he disclosed.

Also present to donate blood during the campaign were members of PBB Youth and Women wings from Mulu and Telang Usan constituencies.
