HSL spruces up children’s home
KUCHING: Hock Seng Lee ( HSL) brought cheer to The Salvation Army Kuching Children’s Home here recently as part of its ‘ Healthy Bodies, Happy Minds’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.
Coordinated by its Human Resources and Corporate Communications Department, the outreach programme was first launched in December last year to help the underprivileged communities while serving as team- building activities for staff, HSL said through a press statement yesterday.
Some 40 staff from accounts, project management, human resource and administrative department who visited the children residing at the home read stories and played games with them besides helping to clean the home.
HSL also donated equipment and materials to refurbish the building and facilities to give the children a safe space to play.
Corporate communications manager Cheryl Cheah said the company remains highly committed to developing ‘clean, green and healthy’ communities and encourages volunteerism among its employees.
“This is our third CSR event this year to make a difference in people’s lives.
“It’s a privilege to be able to give back to the community especially those who are less fortunate.
“What’s even more meaningful is that our employees got their hands dirty and saw the impact they had on the children,” said Cheah.
