Two company directors claim trial to four charges of dishonestl­y missapprop­riating monies

KUCHING: Two company directors were charged in a magistrate’s court here yesterday with dishonestl­y missapprop­riating monies amounting to RM378,480 belonging to RJ Timur Sdn Bhd.

Wong Hie Sing, 58, and Yung Wei Pong, 56, pleaded not guilty to four charges before Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi who adjourned the trial hearing to May 16 and 17.

The duo allegedly committed the offences on four separate occasions at a bank in Jalan Bukit Mata here on Jan 4, Feb 23, April 17 and Dec 3 2012. According to the brief facts of the case, the duo allegedly missapprop­riated another company’s cheques meant to pay property rental for their own personal use.

The charge framed under Section 403 of the Penal Code carries a maximum jail penalty of five years and with whipping or a fine upon conviction.

DPP Danial Ilham Kamarudin prosecuted while the two accused were represente­d by counsels Roger Chin, Michael Kong and Chong Siew Chiang.

In an unrelated case yesterday, a man was fined RM2,300 in default four months in jail for possessing 0.06gm of methamphet­amine drug.

Magistrate Majistret Faelly Jeffrey Lanjungan imposed the sentence on Muhammad Zulfikri Seddek, 31, after he pleaded guilty. The accused who was not represente­d was convicted under Section 12 ( 2) and ( 3) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

He committed the offence at a workshop in Jalan Sungai Maong Ulu here at 12pm on Feb 20 this year. The police found the drug inside a cigarette packet.
