Repair works on water mains at KM15, Jalan Miri-Bintulu tomorrow

MIRI: Northern Region Water Board (Laku) Management Sdn Bhd will carry out repair works on 750mm diameter water mains at KM15, Jalan Miri-Bintulu near Lambir water treatment plant tomorrow (April 4) from 8am until 6pm.

Its Miri area manager Ha Tung Ngie said the water mains had been damaged by a third party contractor.

“Residents at nearby areas may experience low water pressure during the repairing works. The affected areas comprise Kampung Sungai Dalam, Soon Hup Garden, Tung San Garden, Taman Da Sing, Taman Futee, Taman Tunku, Taman Jelita, Kampung Lusut Jaya, Kampung Bidayuh Lusut, Kampung Riam Jaya, Taman Eco Park, Miri Airport, Taman Delight and surroundin­g areas,” he said in a press statement yesterday.

He advised consumers to store enough water for use during the repairing works.

“If the weather is unfavourab­le, the repair works shall be carried out on the following working day at the same time. We regret any inconvenie­nce caused and will strive to shorten the period of water interrupti­on.”

He said further that water supply may gradually resume after the completion­oftherepai­rworksby6p­m, particular­ly at higher ground areas.

“Consumers may experience low pressure immediatel­y after the resumption of water supply and the water may be turbid and dirty due to turbulence in the pipeline. They (consumers) can contact our hotlines at 085-426626 or 085-436626.”
