Third Malaysia Spinal Health Association Congress 2019 to be held in Miri in Nov

-

KUCHING: The third Malaysia Spinal Health Association Congress 2019 is set to be held in Miri on Nov 9 to Nov 10.

Organised by Federat ion of Chinese Physicians and Acupuncturists Association Malaysia (FCPAAM), its president Dr Ng Po Kok expressed confidence that the congress would be a success as they had seen firsthand Sarawak’s potential to “host any national and international congress”.

“We had organised the sixth International Spinal Health Congress here in Kuching, and we successfully attracted more than 500 delegates from both Malaysia and overseas.

“After having such a successful event, we are absolutely confident with the ability of Sarawak to host any national and international congress. Therefore, we have decided to host the Malaysia Spinal Health Association Congress 2019 in Miri on Nov 9 to Nov 10,” Dr Ng said in his speech during the official opening of the federation’s regional office here at the Business Events Sarawak Association Centre ( Besac) at Plaza Aurora, Jalan McDougall here yesterday.

It was also Besac’s official opening of its offices, which was officiated by Tourism, Culture, Arts, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

Besac is the latest brainchild of Business Events Sarawak ( BESarawak), which is a special campaign under the Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB).

Earlier, SCB chairman Tan Sri Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Leo Toyad Abdullah said it was the support of associations such as FCPAAM that had helped to boost the business events sector.

“Ac t ive a nd v i s ion a r y associations like FCPAAM have contributed more than 80 per cent of the events hosted in Sarawak, and the impact of business events in meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions has been recognised not just in the state’s socio- economic growth, but in its impact to the tourism industry.

“With the opening of Besac, we are hoping to develop Sarawak as one of the hubs in the Asia Pacific region to house regional association offices, which would strengthen the state’s position as one of the most successful role models for secondtier destinations in the region,” Dr Leo said in his speech.

Also present at the launch were BESarawak chief operating officer Amelia Roziman and BESarawak board of directors members.
