Golfers from 8 ASEAN ports compete in Bintulu

BINTULU: Bintulu Port Sdn Bhd ( BPSB) emerged as overall winner in the ASEAN Port Associatio­n Malaysia ( MAPA) Golf tournament 2019 at Bintulu Golf Club yesterday.

The top two gross winners were Bahri Al Muslim and Erwin Syamizie while the top three nett winners were Aman Julaihi, Mohd Hafiz Adenan and Capt Chundi Nanang.

The five will represent Malaysia Ports in the 13th APA Meet in Jogjakarta, Indonesia from Sept 16 to 20.

The top VIP players - Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd Group CEO Dato Mohammad Medan Abdullah, Bintulu Port Sdn Bhd CPO Omar Salleh and Samalaju Industrial Port Sdn Bhd CPO Matshalleh Mohamad Etli - will also compete in the Jogkarta tournament.

Top three in the team competitio­n were BPSB ‘A’, BPSB ‘B’ and Sabah Port Sdn Bhd.

A total of 53 golfers from eight of 17 member ports - BPSB, Bintulu Port Authority, Sabah Port Sdn Bhd, Sabah Port Authority, Klang Port Authority, Kuantan Port Authority, Kuantan Port Consor t ium Sdn Bhd and Northport ( Malaysia) Bhd - took part this year’s tournament jointly hosted by Bintulu Port Sdn Bhd and Bintulu Port Authority.

Prizes were presented by Dato Mohamad Medan Abdullah.

He quoted sport psychologi­st Dr Bob Rootella in his remarks, “Golf is about how well you accept, respond to, and score with your misses much more so than it is a game of your perfect shots.”

“Equally in business we pay more attention to learning and understand­ing what compromise­s profit maximisati­on than to how much gains we make in a given business period,” he added.
