Catholic High School looking to raise RM100,000 from annual Run For Future charity programme

-

SIBU: The Catholic High School is looking at raising RM100,000 from its annual charity programme, ‘ Run for Future’, slated for July 22 this year.

“We’re holding our run on a larger scale this year,” school principal Rev Br Anthony Tay said, adding that the organiser would expect no fewer than 2,000 participants this time around.

“It will be larger than previous runs as this one will coincide with the 45th anniversary of our alumni association,” he said during a press conference on the event yesterday.

It is learnt that the Catholic High School here would celebrate its 60th anniversary next year.

According to Tay, the running event is open to all Malaysians, but foreigners may join by invitation.

“Ta Ann Holdings Sdn Bhd is the main sponsor of our event,” he added.

It is said that ‘ Run for Future 2019’ was initially scheduled for May 1, but due to the ongoing upgrading works on Lanang Road here, the date was changed to July 22.

“We have to ensure the safety of the runners,” said Tay.

He said those who had paid the entry fees but would be unable to make it on the new date, could ask for refunds.

“Just come to our school with your registration slips.”

The running event has three categories – the 21km, the 10km and the 5km.

Flag- off for the 21km category will be at 4.30am, while it is 6am for the 10km run, and 6.30am for the 5km event.

Every participant will be given a T- shirt – however, those who complete their respective routes could expect medals.

“Participants in the 21km can expect something extra,” said Tay, adding that the finishers would each get another T- shirt.

Entry fee is RM50 per runner and entry forms can be collected at Catholic High School’s office at any time between 8am and 4pm, Mondays to Fridays.

All completed forms must be submitted to the school, or emailed to chssibu1960@ gmail. com, or texted via WhatsApp to 014- 9959890, by this May 31 the latest.

“Those submitting forms via email and WhatsApp must attach the bank slips as proof of payment of the entry fees,” Tay said.

For those using online payment, the fee should be made payable to ‘Catholic High School’ via UOB Bank account number 2553- 030201.

All runners must collect their race kits at any time between 9am and 5pm, on July 20 or 21.

Ta Ann Holdings Bhd head of public relations Grace Mo Ping Pin was also present at the press conference.
