KUCHING: The digital economy committee of Kuching Chinese General Chamber of Commerce & Industry( KCGCCI) recently visited a number of innovation centres here.

According to a press release from the chamber, among the places they visited on Wednesday were MaGIC Sarawak ( Borneo 744) in Bintawa, iCube Innovation Centre at iCOM Square commercial centre in Pending and Hub 381 in Petra Jaya.

The committee was led by president Dato Tan Jit Kee together with chairman Rodger Chan Siong Boh during the visits.

The statement added KCGCCI is currently looking to set up its own innovation centre equipped with high speed Internet connection, modern and conducive working space to attract and develop young entrepreneurs who may face various problems when starting a business.

“This includes startup capital, rental cost for office, renovation fees for the office or shop front, human resources funding and also expenses for hardwares and softwares.

“In response to the Sarawak government’s call to set up innovation hubs, KCGCCI will provide a good platform for young entrepreneurs to network amongst the successful entrepreneurs from the chamber,” it said.

It was also mentioned that the immediate and well established inhouse network differentiates the chamber’s proposed innovation centre from the existing ones.

The setting up of innovation hubs was also said to promote innovation and creativity among young entrepreneurs, enabling them to be competitive in the current business environment.
