Hope Place, HSL aid elderly woman

KUCHING: Hope Place Kuching and Hock Seng Lee Berhad ( HSL) came to the aid of sixty- one yearold Chua Tan Hua by repairing the damaged roof of her house and donating basic food items.

Chua who is also mentallyil­l currently receives regular medication as an out- patient of Sentosa Hospital.

According to a recent press statement, Chua who has been on Hope Place’s list of recipient since last year lives alone in an old single storey house.

“The house originally belonged to her late husband. Although her house is still livable, the roof was damaged and she had to put several pails and bottles in her living room and bedroom to collect water leaking from the roof.

“Heavy rainfall in January had worsen the condition of the roof,” the statement added.

Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan handed over basic food items and drinking water as she does not have piped water.

Chua was overwhelme­d by the care and generosity of Hope Place and HSL.

Hope Place carries out aid deliveries once every 3 months due to the increasing families in the recipients list which totals 190 currently.

Hope Place also assists the handicappe­d in need of special milk and disposable diapers, single mothers with schooling children, abandoned elderly as well as those who earn below RM500 a month.
