PERAK, Ipoh: Unfazed by a narrow 1- 0 defeat to Perak, Sarawak’s President Cup squad are gearing up for their next Group B match against Felda United on April 11.

Head coach Abdul Jalil Ramli is confident in getting his players ready before heading to Stadium UM Arena in Kuala Lumpur next week.

“We will continue our daily training and we will be prepared for the next game. I am sure my boys are ready to face Felda United. We just need to put the ball in the back of the net,” he said.

Commenting on Thursday’s away match against Perak, Jalil said it was a fairly improved game by his players though in the end he thought a draw would have been a fair result based on the second half display by his team.

The goal came in the first 15 minutes of the game, but the highly-spirited young Crocs kept their composure and produced a much improved performance in the second half.

The former Sarawak seniors coach used all three substitutions during the match.

Jalil said in the first hal f, Sarawak gave too much room in the midfield and defence was not functioning as a unit.

“First half was not our best game and it was dominated by Perak. We lacked numerical advantage in attacking.

“The second half was a different ball game altogether. We managed to give them a good run for their money. We were more positive with our attacking moves in both f lanks and had a few good goal scoring chances.

“Special mentioned to central defender Mohd Ikhmarrudin Jais who had a good game today and so does other players,” he said when met after the match.

Sarawak are currently ninth in Group B standings with five points after seven games while Perak are leading with 17 points.
