GiatMara recognises achievement of 604 trainees at graduation
KUCHING: Six- hundred- andfour trainees from 30 GiatMara campuses across Sarawak received their professional certificates during the graduation held at the old State Legislative Assembly ( DUN) complex in Petra Jaya here yesterday.
The trainees graduated from various courses such as welding, wiring, automotive technology, as well as fashion and dressmaking.
The valedictorian amongst the graduating batch was Aida Fazleen Man, who took the Men’s Dressmaking Course at GiatMara Batang Sadong Campus. She received the ‘GiatMara Executive Award’ – the recognition given to trainees who achieve at least 3.7 in their GiatMara Competency Point Average (GCPA).
In his opening remarks, Majlis Amanah Rakyat ( Mara) Sarawak director Dr Azmi Amat Murjan conveyed his heartiest congratulations to all GiatMara trainees for having performed well throughout their training period.
“Through their GCPA and ‘ National Occupational Skills Standards’ ( SKPK), the trainees have proven to themselves that they have indeed become skilful in the trade that they have taken for training,” he said.
Azmi also pointed out that the trainees deserved to feel ‘ joyous and glorious’ during their graduation as the moment marked their tenacity and tireless efforts during training, alongside the support and prayers from family members.
“I would also extend my appreciation to the trainers and staff members of GiatMara for their commitment in training and sharing their experiences with the trainees.”
Azmi also reminded GiatMara trainees to never stop improving themselves, and to grab all the available opportunities meant to boost their self-worth. At present, GiatMara campuses across Sarawak provide 73 programmes, of which 68 are GiatMara Professional Certificate courses.
