KUCHING: The Footbal l Association of Sarawak ( FAS) has to resolve the corruption allegation involving its former vice president and secretary general without compromising the performance of the Sarawak team.

This was the concern expressed by Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

“Sarawak has good players but don’t let the issues faced by the association affect the team.

“This issue has to be addressed properly,” he said when asked to comment on the al leged corrupt ion scandal in FAS during the Asean International Film Festival and Awards (Aiffa) 2019 press conference at a leading hotel here yesterday.

Abdul Karim also relayed to reporters that he is currently awaiting the report concerning the case and leaves it to the Malaysian Anti- Corruption C ommi s s i on ( MACC ) to investigate.

“I am waiting for the report on this matter. At the moment, I have yet to receive detailed informat ion but let MACC carry out the investigation,” he stressed.

The cor r upt ion scandal involving the former FAS exco recently came to light after FAS president Dato Posa Majais lodged a complaint with MACC against former FAS secretary general Razali Dolhan.

In a statement issued last Friday, Posa alleged that Razali had commit ted a criminal breach of trust involving a sum of RM500,000 from FAS coffers during his ( Razali’s) tenure as the association’s secretary general and vice president in 2017.

Razali, through his lawyer, has since demanded that Posa retract the allegations of misconduct and defamatory statements against him.
