SJK Chung Hua No. 4 win PASC Swimming Competitio­n

KUCHING: SJK Chung Hua No. 4 are back in the groove af ter clinching the overall championsh­ip of the 4th PASC Inter-Primary School Swimming Competitio­n at the Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre, Petra Jaya last Sunday.

The 26-member team led by the school’s senior assistant Lee Mui Huat captured 28 gold, 11 silver and nine bronze medals to accumulate 458.50 points and wrest back the title from St Joseph’s Private ( Primary) School who collected 436.50 points.

They were winners of the 1st edition in 2016 and 2nd edition in 2017 before playing second fiddle to St Joseph Private ( Primary) School last year.

In third place was SJK Chung Hua No. 2 with 358 points while the fourth to 10th positions were occupied by SJK Chung Hua No. 3 (324), Lodge Internatio­nal School (285), Borneo Internatio­nal School (149), SJK CHung Hua Batu 4 1/2 (120), Tunku Putra School (120), SJK Chung Hua No. 6 (111) and SK Agama Ibnu Khaldun ( 69) respective­ly.

SJK Chung Hua No. 4 earned more honours as four of their swimmers won the best swimmers awards. They were Charissa Ang Yee Ting (Girl Primary 1), Claire Chen Ching Yuan (Girl Primary 2), Dylan Leong Yi Quan ( Boy Primary 4) and his brother Darren Leong Yi Chen (Boys Primary 5).

Other Best Swimmer awards winners were Max Chiew Yu Xiang from SJK Chung Hua No. 6 ( Boys Primary 1), Bryston Lee Khai Cheng from SJK Chung Hua No. 3 ( Boys Primary 2), Cayden Mineve Chin of SK Catholic English (Boys Primary 3), Chereen Ngo Yirui of SJK Chung Hua No. 3 (Girls Primary 3), Janice Tan Jing Xuan from SJK CHung Hua No.2 (Girls Primary 4), Vanessa Liew Xing Yi from SJK Chung Hua No. 2 (Girls Primary 5), Casper Tan Ting Fung of St Joseph’s Private School (Boys Primary 5) and Lodge Internatio­nal School’s Emily Wong Li Min (Girls Primary 6).

Meanwhile, a delighted Lee vowed to fight to retain the title next year.

“We are happy to be able to wrest back the title from St Joseph’s Private School after a very close fight. We hope to win again next year.

“Swimming is now the top sports in our school’s co- curriculum ahead of badminton and table tennis,” said Lee who thanked the pupils for their committmen­t and their parents for their strong support.
