Man found hanging at garden shed

KOTA SAMARAHAN: The search for a man who had been unreachabl­e by phone and was last seen at 8am on Monday ended in a sad note after he was found hanging by the window of a garden shed in Kampung Melaban here around 6am yesterday.

It is understood that the wife and other family members began searching for the victim, aged 33, from Sri Aman around 4am in the vicinity of Stakan and Mile 7 before they found his motorcycle near the scene.

“The victim’s younger sibling then went to the area and found the victim hanging, and proceeded to cut the rope tied around the victim’s neck before placing him on the ground,” said a source.

The victim’s wife then reported the discovery of his body to the police.

Kota Samarahan District Police chief DSP Lee Chong Chern when contacted confirmed receiving a report on the discovery and said that further investigat­ion is ongoing.

“During an inspection, the police found a letter in the victim’s bag believed written by the victim before the discovery of the body. The victim’s wife later confirmed that it was his handwritin­g.

“A physical check revealed no signs of struggle except for constricti­on marks on the victim’s neck,” Lee said in a statement here yesterday, adding that the victim’s personal belongings were

“It is said that the victim had not been working for six months after he last worked on an offshore rig overseas,” Lee said.

The victim’s body had been sent to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for an autopsy.
