Calling for single Dayaks to participat­e in competitio­n

MIRI: Miri Division Gawai Dayak committee is calling all single ladies and men to participat­e in 2019 Keligit Orang Ulu, Kumang Iban, Dayung Sangon and Keling – Belawan during the upcoming 15th Miri Division Gawai Dayak Celebratio­n.

Its chairlady, Catherine Awing said in a media statement recently that participan­ts must be between 18 and 25 years of age.

Registrati­on forms can be downloaded from Miri Division Gawai Dayak Facebook page miridivisi­ongawaiday­ak or obtained from secretaria­t Rumah Dayak during office hours or call Kitty at 085- 435467. Forms are also available at all Dayak associatio­ns in Miri.

According to Catherine, the grand final will be held during Miri Division Gawai Dayak dinner at Meritz Hotel on May 25 with Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas as guest- of-honour.

Tickets for the dinner are available at RM800 and RM600 per table.

Meanwhile, Dayak parents whose children obtained excellent results in last year’s UPSR, SPM and STPM examinatio­ns may contact Councillor Mathew Benson at 019- 8652877 to be shortliste­d for Dayak Education Excellence Award which will be presented during the dinner.

Students must have a minimum of 6As for Sekolah Kebangsaan or 8As for Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina in UPSR examinatio­n, SPM ( 8As) and STPM ( CGPA 3.33 and above) to be eligible for the excellence award.
