HSL staff members help out at Enviro Run

-

KUCHING: Staff members of Hock Seng Lee Bhd (HSL) marshalled and supported some 700 participants of the Enviro Run, held last weekend.

Organised by Natural Resources and Environment Board ( NREB) Sarawak in conjunction with its 25th anniversary celebration, the running event – divided into 3km and 7km routes – was held within the vicinity of the old Sarawak State Legislative Assembly ( DUN) complex.

According to HSL corporate communications manager Cheryl Cheah, the NREB’s silver jubilee run aimed to create a cleaner, greener and healthier Sarawak, which was aligned with HSL’s commitment towards ‘ Healthy Bodies, Happy Minds’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme rolled out last December.

“Our effort in environmental conservation is incorporated into green spaces and practices in the planning and landscaping of HSL flagship mixed development, La Promenade, which won merit prize at the Malaysian Landscape Architecture Awards last year.

“Our new headquarters along KuchingSamarahan Expressway will also be the fi rst private office building in Sarawak to receive Green Building Index certification,” she said.

Cheah added that the company’s wide outreach programme provided ample opportunities for its staff to bond and interact with one another outside the workplace.

More than 35 HSL employees from various departments helped to manage the traffic during the run, distribute water, food and medals to the runners, as well as engage in the post- event cleanup.

“This is our fourth CSR event since the launch of ‘Healthy Bodies, Happy Minds’, and we are proud of our staff who have volunteered to keep the environment clean,” she said.

Interested members of the public may contact Cheah at 082- 332 755, or visit hsl.com.my to know more about its CSR programme.

The company also welcomes fresh CSR ideas from the public.
