MCC reminds rate payers to pay assessment fees by May 31

-

MIRI: Miri City Council ( MCC) is reminding rate payers in areas under its jurisdiction that the last day to pay their assessment rate fee for first half of 2019 is on May 31.

According to rating committee chairman Cr Julaihi Mohd, year 2019 assessment rate bills have already been issued to all rate payers, with the latest issued in March.

Those who have yet to receive their bills can always check with the council, he said.

“There is no excuse for rate payers or property owners to not receive the bills.

“They can obtain a copy of the bill from the UTC counter here,” he added.

He said if rate payers had changed the ownership of their properties or postal address, they should notify the Rating and Valuation Department of Miri City Council by presenting a copy of the Sale and Purchase Agreement or other supporting documents.

“This is to ensure that the assessment bills will reach the relevant person,” Julaihi said.

Meanwhile, to encourage payment and show appreciation to ratepayers, MCC is once again organising a lucky draw as an incentive to all ratepayers in the city.

Rate payers who pay assessment fee for the whole year of 2019 with no outstanding amount can participate in the lucky draw. The council will be giving away attractive prizes comprising home appliances.

“To be eligible for the lucky draw, payment of assessment fee needs to be done on or before Sept 31. The lucky draw will be conducted based on the digital record of the property in our system,” Julaihi said.
