SMK St Joseph Miri wins Green Technology show competitio­n

MIRI: SMK St Joseph Miri emerged champion at the Green Technology Show Competitio­n during Miri District’s Science, Technology, Engineerin­g and Mathematic­s ( STEM) and Green Technology Innovation Carnival at SMK Chung Hua Miri recently.

In second place was SMK Chung Hua Miri while SMK Lutong Miri was third.

In the Solar Vehicle Challenge Competitio­n, the champion’s title went to SMK Chung Hua Miri, with SMK Lutong Miri and SMK St Joseph Miri coming in second and third respective­ly.

SMK Lutong Miri was the champion in the Remote Control Aeroplane category. In second and third places were SMK Chung Hua Miri and SMK Dato Permaisuri Miri respective­ly.

SMK St Columba Miri grabbed the title as champion in the Innovation of Biomass Power category with SMK Merbau Miri in second and Kolej Tun Datu Tuanku Haji Bujang, third.

In the STEM Digital Project Competitio­n, SMK Chung Hua Miri was champion while SMK St Columba Miri was second and SMK Chung Hua Miri, third.

There were three categories under Technology Rocket Launcher Competitio­n – Overall, Burlap Parachute and Target.

SMK Taman Tunku Miri topped the Overall category, followed by SMK Baru Miri and SMK Pujut Miri in second and third respective­ly.

In the Burlap Parachute category, the champion was SMK Riam Miri, while in second and third places respective­ly were SMK Taman Tunku and two teams from SMK Chung Hua Miri.

Green Cooker Challenge Competitio­n was won by SMK Chung Hua Miri, beating SMK St Joseph Miri and SMK Chung Hua Miri in second and third respective­ly.

Piasau assemblyma­n Datuk Sebastian Ting presented the prizes in the form of medals to the winners.

Also present were Sarawak Education Department officer Norman Suhaili, Miri district education office representa­tive Alias Ngah, SMK Chung Hua Miri principal Albert Ong and SMK Chung Hua Miri Parent-Teacher Associatio­n chairman Dr Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman.
