369 business premises inspected during ‘Ops Bersepadu’

KAPIT: Three hundred and sixty- nine business premises in the central region have been checked for various trade-related offences.

The ‘Ops Bersepadu’ operation conducted by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (central region) resulted in action being taken against 30 operators, compound of RM4,400 issued and RM11,342 worth of goods confiscate­d.

The operation started from Mukah on March 6 to 7 with 186 business premises inspected; actions taken against 17 operators, RM1,900 in compound issued and RM2,688 worth of goods confiscate­d.

The operation then went to Sibu from April 3 to 4 where 114 business premises were inspected and action was taken against 11 operators, RM1,200 in compound issued and RM2,342 worth of goods confiscate­d.

On April 10 to 11 during the operation here 69 business premises were inspected resulting in action taken against 11 operators, RM1,300 in compound issued and RM6,311 worth of goods confiscate­d.

The ministry’s chief enforcemen­t of f icer for Sarawak, Mohd Hanizam told a press conference here on Thursday that several of their officers inspected business premises and the jungle produce market at Jalan Penghulu Nyangganu and Terasang Market in Jalan Penghulu Geringgang here.

The ministry’s head here Idrus Nalin was also present at the press conference.

Hanizam said Ops Bersepadu was an early operation in preparatio­n for the forthcomin­g Gawai Dayak celebratio­n.

A total of 55 enforcemen­t officers were involved in the operation ( Mukah 20, Sibu 22 and Kapit 13) conducted to enforce the existing trade rules and regulation­s to ensure that the supply of essential goods was sufficient and are sold at permitted prices.

Hanizam was here for a oneday working visit, starting his journey in Sibu, before taking an express boat to Song and driving to Kapit.
