FIM 2019 records RM452 mln potential franchise deals

KUALA LUMPUR: The Franchise Internatio­nal Malaysia 2019 ( FIM 2019) exhibition and conference which ended recently recorded RM452 million worth of potential franchise transactio­n – a nine per cent increase from the RM410 million recorded during last year’s event.

The Malaysian Franchise Associatio­n ( MFA) chairman Datuk Radzali Hassan said the achievemen­t was due to the franchise packages offered by 74 local and internatio­nal franchise companies.

“FIM 2019 recorded more than 150 business matching sessions between franchisor­s and prospectiv­e franchisee­s. The Franchise In-Buying Mission ( FBIM) also contribute­d to the total value of potential franchise transactio­ns. This year, the FBIM involved 18 representa­tives of internatio­nal investors from 13 countries, including United Kingdom, Hungary, Poland, Sweden, the Netherland­s, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Myanmar, Oman, Indonesia, India, Russia and Vietnam,” he said in a statement today.

Internatio­nal franchise companies from 14 countries, namely the United States, Australia, the Netherland­s, Turkey, Indonesia, South Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Italy, the Philippine­s, Singapore and Thailand also took part in the event.

The event was attended by more than 11,000 local and internatio­nal visitors.

FIM 2019 also saw the exchange of franchise agreements between Mediconsta­nt Holding Sdn Bhd, City Coin Laundry Sdn Bhd and Revenue Valley Sdn Bhd with master franchisor­s from Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Turkey, Brunei, Maldives and Jordan. — Bernama
