Darul Hana expected to receive first group of residents by year-end

KUCHING: The first group of residents are expected to move into their new homes in the Darul Hana Developmen­t here by the end of the year, says Assistant Minister of Rural Electricit­y Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.

According to him, the residents are originally from Kampung Panglima Seman Ulu, Kampung Pulo Ulu and Kampung Semarang, adding that as many as 78 units under the developmen­t are expected to reach completion by the third quarter of next year.

“Altogether, there would be 2,333 units to be built in Darul Hana for villagers from 12 villages in Seberang Hilir here, especially for the extended families.

“This developmen­t will be carried out in stages until 2030, and will be equipped with the latest facilities,” he said when officiatin­g at the opening of Darul Hana Carnival 2019 at Masjid Darul Hana here yesterday.

Dr Abdul Rahman, who is Pantai Damai assemblyma­n, added that aside from the mosque and residentia­l units, other planned developmen­ts for Darul Hana would include a Heritage Museum and the Islamic Garden.

“The Darul Hana Heritage Museum project has been approved with an allocation of RM3 million. The whole purpose of the museum is to preserve our heritage for present and future generation­s.

“The Islamic Garden is also in the process of being developed. It will surround the entire mosque and is expected to reach completion within 18 to 24 months,” he said.

On the carnival, Dr Abdul Rahman regarded it as the first of its kind to be held here, offering opportunit­ies for the local community to see first-hand the developmen­ts being carried out under Darul Hana masterplan.
