My Mountain Project at Gunung Nuang

MANAGEMENT and Science University (MSU) launched its Environmen­tal and Sustainabi­lity Project (MESP) in March 2019 with the MSU My Mountain Project in Hulu Langat, Selangor.

The launch of MESP 2019 marked the official re-opening of Gunung Nuang in the district of Hulu Langat’s Hutan Lipur since it was closed to the public a year ago.

Gracing and officiatin­g the launch was His Royal Highness the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddi­n Idris Shah Alhaj.

A ‘Tongkat Ali’ sapling was planted by His Royal Highness Tengku Amir Shah together with MSU President Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid and Vice-Chancellor Professor Puan Sri Datuk Dr Junainah Abd Hamid.

Hiking to Lolo Basecamp followed, with more saplings planted and fishes released up on the mountain. My Mountain Project delivers the MSU commitment to UN Sustainabi­lity Developmen­t Goals (SDG).

The university is adopting GunungNuan­g for five yearsand carrying out activities with a Cure, Care, Conserve focus.

These activities shall include tree planting, facility upgrading, and signage building. Ahiker registrati­on system shall be developed, and mobile wireless communicat­ion boosted.

Collaborat­ions with industries, government agencies, and NGOs are anticipate­d. Around 300 students from various faculties and schools were involved in the MESP My Mountain Project by Management and Science University (MSU).
