QIU students and academics continue the winning streak

-

These included four gold, two silver, six bronze, and a special Japanese Intellectual Property Award. Our students and academics took it in their stride as they competed against more than 500 projects by government agencies such as the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI) and the Malaysia Nuclear Agency, local public universities, and entrants from as far as Taiwan, Croatia, the Philippines and the United States.

Hot on the heels of this achievement, QIU’s School of Hospitality students and lecturers continued the winning streak by winning two bronze medals and two diploma awards at the recent 6th Penang International Halal Chef Challenge.

The challenge, which is part of the Penang International Halal Expo and Conference 2019, saw participation from hoteliers and chef associations like Vouk Hotel, Olive Tree Hotel, Ramada Hotel, the Johor Chef Association, and the Malaysian Petroleum Club.

Other public and private universities from Malaysia and beyond were also part of the competition. QIU’s industryrelevant methods have seen our students employed at some of the world’s biggest companies, including Sony, Finisar, Genting, Intel, Samsung, and Deloitte.

The same principle of creating job-ready students also extends to QIU’s programmes and facilities.

A prime example is QIU’s industry-basedengineering programme that will be applied for two engineering programmes – the Bachelor of Electronics Engineering (Communication) with Honours, and the Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering with Honours.
