MoE to focus on three values to restore interest in education

KLUANG: The Ministry of Education ( MoE) will focus on three cultural values in formulatin­g more holistic education as well as restoring high interest in the field, says its Minister Dr Maszlee Malik.

He said the three cultural values – love, happiness and mutual respect – were seen to be able to continue to empower education.

He also expressed his hope for teachers to remain progressiv­e and dynamic to go through the process of changes the currently taking place, compared to traditiona­l education.

“I am confident that teachers are able to translate it by combining these three values, in order to produce the best human capital, thus become respected (individual­s) in the community,” he said.

Maszlee, who is also Simpang Renggam MP, said this in his speech when officiatin­g the Kluang district-level Teachers’ Day celebratio­n at the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Simpang Renggam, here.

Also present were Kluang MP Wong Shu Qi; Kluang district officer Ismail Abu; Johor State Education Department deputy director Azman Adnan and Kluang district education officer Ishak Mahbob.

Maszlee said his ministry was of the view that teachers were heroes with high expectatio­n were placed on them to develop virtuous and successful human capital.

He also said that teachers need to have high leadership qualities to enable them to implement changes to produce students with desired outcome. — Bernama
