Taiwan team tops 1st international robot football competition
MIRI: The inaugural Borneo International Invitation Robot Football Competition 2019 saw a Taiwanese team edge out 46 local and foreign participants to emerge champion.
The candidly named ‘ We Come From Taiwan’ won themselves a cash prize of USD1,000, trophy, medals and certificates during the finals at Bintang Megamall, here on Saturday.
SMK Chung Hua Miri, which sent five teams to the competition, secured second, third and fourth placing through its Team 5, Team 4 and Team 3, respectively.
In addition to trophies, medals and certificates, the three teams won cash prizes of USD600, USD400 and USD200 for their respective position.
Meanwhile, the nationallevel Robotic Lego Football Competition saw SMK Chung Hua Miri making a clean sweep of the top four placing, with Team 1 coming first, Team 2 in second, Team 4 in third, and Team 3 in fourth.
They won cash prizes of RM2,000, RM1,000, RM500 and RM200 respectively along with trophies, medals and certificates.
The closing ceremony of the competition held on Saturday night was officiated by Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin, who represented Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
Among those present were Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting, Ministry of Education sports and arts department deputy director Rozanium Ahmad, Sarawak Education Department director Dr Azhar Ahmad and organising chairman Albert Ong Ngee Hong.
