Be committed in your kids’ education, rural folk advised
MIRI: The onus is on the parents to commit themselves to their children’s education, which can do more than shaping the future of the next generation, says Lubok Antu MP Jugah Muyang.
In this respect, he believes that rural poverty could be overcome through education.
“Parents must be committed in ensuring that education would become an important asset in their children’s life, because only education could change their lives, and their families’, for the better,” he pointed this out in his opening remarks at a luncheon hosted by the parent-teacher association ( PTA) of SK Nanga Menjuau on Saturday.
Later at the event, the parliamentarian announced an allocation of RM230,000 meant for upgrading works on several of SK Nanga Menjuau’s facilities, with the objective of making the primary school’s environment conducive to learning and teaching.
In his address, Jugah called upon the PTA to work and collaborate closely with him in developing and enhancing the standard of education in Lubok Antu.
Additionally, he had gone to almost every school across his constituency and provided them with the necessary assistance.
“I genuinely want to see the children of Lubok Antu excel in their education.
“Only good education could help a person do well in life, or even realise their dreams.
“Should they manage to further their studies at higher learning institutions, they would also be able to bring positive changes to their families, especially in terms of economy.”
Meanwhile, the luncheon hosted about 200 villagers as well as local community leaders.
Apart from the fund allocated to SK Nanga Menjuau, Jugah also presented an allocation of RM90,000 to the village security and development committees (JKKK) of seven longhouses around SK Nanga Menjuau.
