School engages parents in transformation
BETONG: SMK St Augustine Betong is taking proactive steps in getting parents to be involved in their children’s education and development through the ‘Mega Transformation Programme’ ( TS25).
School principal Paul Langgang said parents’ cooperation is vital in shaping students’ development.
“We’re taking proactive steps to boost the school’s achievements by helping each student excel and build their self- confidence with the cooperation from parents. Through involvement, parents can motivate their children to do better,” he spoke during the launch of TS25 at the school recently.
According to Paul, the transformation towards planned development of the school environment is in progress, apart from the involvement of parents and students in ‘ mind transformation’.
“We appreciate the involvement of the parents and the community, including the people’s representatives, who have contributed so much to the school’s development.
“The near-100 per cent turnout here shows that the parents support this programme,” he said.
Currently, SMK St Augustine Betong registers 965 students and upon the approval for the Lower 6 classes, there would be about 1,100 students.
Activities under TS25 include roadshows with participation from Politeknik Metro Betong, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Mukah Campus, Kolej Komuniti Betong, Giatmara Betong, Sarawak Labour Department, Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd (ASNB) Sri Aman and Hong Leong Bank.
Sarawak Education Department senior administrative officer and SMK St Augustine parent-teacher association’s executive committee Ismail Mohamad was also present at the event.
