Always-congested T-junction at Jalan Stakan up for widening works

-

KUCHING: The traffic situation at the T-junction of Lorong 3 at Jalan Stakan near here is now being monitored closely, following complaints received from residents and the business community in Kota Sentosa.

According to Sarawak United People’s Party ( SUPP) Public Complaints Bureau chief Wilfred Yap, the problem of congestion at the T-junction has been brought up to the attention of Padawan Municipal Council ( MPP)’s Engineering Department, and it is learnt that government funding for relevant upgrading works has been approved.

However, it is noted that there are eight squatter units on both sides of the T-junction.

Prior to the opening of the project tender by the MPP, Yap together with members of SUPP Mile 7 sub-branch and a MPP officer had gone down to the site to assess the situation regarding these squatter units, to ensure that there would not be any problem affecting the upgrading-widening works on the T-junction.

“I will continue to follow up and monitor the situation closely until the upgrading works on the Tjunction at Lorong 3, Jalan Stakan are completed to the satisfaction and benefit of all the affected parties.

“The (SUPP) Public Complaints Bureau will act as the eyes and ears of the community living in Kota Sentosa to ensure that the infrastructure facilities in the area are maintained properly for the benefit of the communities living there,” said Yap.
