Lions club candidate hits the campaign trail

KAPIT: Lydia Lu Siew Fong of Lions Club Kota Kinabalu Sutera, Sabah and some twenty members of her campaign team made a stop here on Sunday evening to meet members of Lions Club Kapit and Lions Club Song.

Lydia, a candidate for Second Vice District Governor Lions District 308-A2 Fiscal Year 20192020 and her team attended a fellowship gathering held at a local restaurant.

President of Lions Club Kapit Sng Geok Yian, President Lions club Song John Kho, Region chairman Diabetes Awareness Action Committee Dr SiaTih Kong were among some forty lions at the gathering.

Earlier, the team visited various Lions clubs in Sabah, Federal Territory of Labuan and Kuching.

From Kapit, they will call on Lions Club Bintangor, Lions Club Mukah, Lions Club Sibu, Lions Club Bintulu, Lions Club Miri and Lions Club Limbang.

A businesswo­man, Lydia has actively served Lions Club Kota Kinabalu Sutera for over fifteen years in various positions. Her husband, Tony Tan was the past president of the club.

The other candidate vying for the position is Dato Lee Siew Ping from Lions Club Kota Kinabalu Centennial, Sabah. She was in town last Friday to meet fellow Lions here

It is a Lions’ tradition for candidates to campaign for support from delegates attending Lion’s convention.

The delegates from various lions clubs in District 308-A2 comprising Sabah, Federal Territory of Labuan, Brunei and Sarawak will vote for the candidate to lead them during Lions’ convention from April 25 – 28 in Ipoh, Perak.
