Perantau hailed for its exemplary role
TATAU: Persatuan Anak Tatau or better known as Perantau, a local non- governmental organisation ( NGO) in Tatau district, has been commended for playing a very good role in connecting the voices of the people on the ground to the relevant authorities.
Assistant Minister of Native Laws and Customs cum Kakus assemblyman Datuk John Sikie Tayai also remarked that Perantau played an important role in physical as well as human capital development because the voice of Perantau is the people’s voice.
He was speaking at Perantau’s third annual general meeting (AGM) for 2019-2021 at SK Tatau hall recently.
“Perantau is also working closely with other elected representatives from Jepak and Kakus constituencies to bring about more development and it is an exemplary role that should be emulated by other NGOs,” Sikie added.
The NGO was also called upon to continue serving the locals by working with relevant government agencies in solving local issues to give a positive impact to the wellbeing of people.
“I hope Perantau’s role will expand by giving more focus on human capital development especially in educational aspect and social problems faced by our youths in Tatau,” Sikie said.
He congratulated Perantau for their efforts since 2015 and praised their sincerity to serve the people without any political and personal agenda.
Perantau’s new committee members are Mohammad Rizal Julaihi as chairman, Ningkan Unsu (deputy chairman), Lee Mui Ling (vice chairman 1), Esther Ansai (vice chairman 2), Jacqueline Mato (secretary), Kurniawan Abd Haris (assistant secretary) and Lee Moi Hoi (treasurer).
