KUCHING: Organisations in Sarawak ought to take advantage of productivity enhancement programmes, aimed at enabling them to remain competitive.

According to Assistant Minister of E- Commerce Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais, such programmes include those organised and run by the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) Sarawak.

“Productivity is crucial to an organisation’s long-term success.

“By enhancing productivity, this can improve competitiveness and profits of organisations to ensure that businesses would remain relevant,” he said at the closing ceremony of Sarawak Region Mini Team Excellence Convention (MTEx) and Awards Presentation 2019 here yesterday, where MPC Sarawak senior manager Waila Mohd Nasir was also present.

Naroden, who is also Assistant Minister of Entrepreneur and Small-Medium Enterprise (SME) Development, pointed out that the initiatives related to productivity would need to grow in terms of awareness and culture so as to achieve the desired outcome.

He regarded such implementation as important towards achieving the objective of improving the prosperity of the people.

In view of this, he commended MPC Sarawak for conducting the convention programme, which gathered representatives from 20 organisations.

“This is an indication of Sarawak’s commitment in increasing productivity and nurturing the culture of innovation.

“The participation from these organisations would contribute substantially to the efficiency and effectiveness of their respective organisations, especially to the national economy,” he remarked.

Naroden said through the ‘Team Excellence’ programme, it could also contribute to the reduction in cost and time wastage, as well as improvement in the quality of products or services.

“I trust that this activity is an important step in line with the Sarawak government’s efforts in advancing towards the digital economy era through the strengthening of information and communications technology (ICT),” he added.
