Rope skipping competitio­n to be held at CityONE Megamall

KUCHING: Dyslexia Associatio­n o f S a r awa k ( DASwk) in col laboration with Wel fare Department, state Education Depa r tment and Ci tyOne Megamall, will be organising a Rope Skipping competitio­n for children and young adults with disabiliti­es on July 13.

The competitio­n to be held at the megamall will run from 9.30am to 3pm.

According to a press release, students from special schools and integrated special education programmes as well as childrenan­d young adults in disability-related non-government­al organizati­ons ( NGOs) and Community- Based Rehabilita­tion Centre ( PDK) and their teachers or care providers are invited to participat­e in the competitio­n.

This annual competitio­n is in its eighth year and has gained a following since its inception in 2012. Rope skipping is a healthy physical activity that has been shown to improve body coordinati­on, balance, flexibilit­y, endurance and agility.

The competitio­n aims to provide a platform for young people with disabiliti­es to demonstrat­e their prowess, talent and creativity in rope skipping. It also helps to motivate young people to strive hard in order to achieve a target.

Participan­ts will be divided according to the type of disabiliti­es and age group.

Registrati­on forms are available from the Learning and Resource Centre of DASwk at Lorong Maxwell 2, Jalan Maxwell here. Registrati­on fee is RM20 per participan­t.
