-

MIRI: Fajar International Col lege’s ( FIC) Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) programme recently added another name to its list of graduates who successfully obtained the Green Book from the Department of Occupational Safety and Health ( DOSH) Malaysia.

Alejandro Aaron, who graduated with a Diploma in OSH in 2014, did the college proud when he obtained his Green Book, the mandatory ‘passport’ to have to be recognised as a registered safety and health officer (SHO) in Malaysia.

With his quali fication, the 24- year - old Alejandro is now having a successful career with an international oil and gas firm as a safety and health personnel in the Middle East.

During a visit to the college here recently, Alejandro expressed his gratitude to the college saying: “I am really thankful to Fajar International College, and it is because of my training and qualification obtained, I have become who I am today.”

As the only college in Miri whose Diploma in OSH received recognition from DOSH Malaysia, FIC has earned high reputation as a premier college which has helped many OSH graduates to successfully obtain their Green Book.

FIC which started to offer this programme in 2000 has produced a good number of Green Book holders who are gainfully employed throughout the country.

This gives an edge to the college in attracting students from all over Malaysia to further their studies in the field of OSH, and the college is proud that many of them have successfully obtained their Green Book and thus qualified themselves as recognised SHO in Malaysia.

Being the first college to offer this diploma which is approved by DOSH in Sabah and Sarawak, the Diploma in OSH provides limitless opportunities for future safety and health officers in their career development.

This Diploma also provides an alternative pathway for its graduates to enter the exciting field of construction site safety as it is recognised by DOSH as a qualification to apply for the ‘Yellow Book,’ which is a mandatory document for those who intend to work as a construction site safety supervisor, which is highly in demand by the industry.

Holders of Diploma in OSH can now apply for Yellow Book either by attending the module 6 of the Site Safety Supervisors ( SSS) course, or they can accumulate a 6month working experience in the construction field after obtaining their diploma.

The college’s May 2019 intake is now open and interested students are urged to either call 085- 644803, or email to query@ kolejfajar.edu. my for further details, or they can also register online at www. kolejfajar.edu.my.
