Unloader One knee brace available at Spine & Joint
KUCHING: The Unloader One knee brace, which has been clinically proven to reduce pain associated with unicompartmental osteoarthritis of the knee, is available at Spine & Joint ( Kuching).
Designed for average to highimpact activities, Unloader One by Iceland-based Ossur is said to be comfortable, lightweight, and low-profile; fitting unobtrusively underneath clothing.
Spine & Joint (Kuching) head of physiotherapy Jonathan Goh said knee osteoarthritis patients who undergo knee replacements have a high chance of getting better but success in all cases is not guaranteed due to other diseases.
“That’s why patients come to see us for other solutions or their only option is not surgery but with conservative treatment,” he said, pointing out all surgeries carry a fair amount of risk.
He said many Malaysians are obese, as most local food is high in carbohydrates and sugar, and do not take good care of their knees.
The Unloader One aims to prolong the lifespan of a patient’s knee so they may not need to have knee surgery, he explained.
Goh stated the Unloader One knee brace provides strong support yet is light.
According to its website, patients using the Unloader One reported taking 25 per cent less pain medication and 35 per cent less prescription antiinflammatories.
