Muslims urged to donate to Hikmah’s building fund
KUCHING: Muslims in the state, par t icularly those who are wealthy, are called upon to donate towards the construction of Hikmah Sarawak’s new headquarters, with the Sarawak government pledging a r inggit- for - ringgit matching grant.
Chief Minister Datuk Pat inggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said one such individual has already pledged RM4 million to the building fund, adding he hopes others would follow the example set.
“The individual, who requested his name not to b e ment ioned, h a s agreed to g ive a zakat ( tithe) amounting to RM4 million to Hikmah for the organisation to build its new complex.
“I hope more Muslims who are wealthy enough will do same thing,” he said during Hikmah Sarawak’s 50th anniversary celebration, here yesterday.
Earlier, Abang Johari said the Sarawak government has al located a 10 - acre land at Jalan Pustaka for Hikmah Sarawak to build its new headquarters.
