34 primary, secondary schools participat­e in Tadarus Al-Quran, Nasyid Festival

MIRI: The 45th Miri Division Schools Tadarus Al- Quran and Nasyid Festival saw 34 primary and secondary schools participat­ing in the two-day event which ended last Wednesday.

With the theme ‘Al- Quran Pembawa Rahmat Untuk Umat’, it attracted the participat­ion of 171 primary and 88 secondary students in five events; namely Tilawah, Hafazan, Islamic storytelli­ng, Syarahan and Nasyid.

Miri education officer Shirini Mastura Mohamed Zulkifli said the Quran should be the way of life and it is also a source of knowledge that could bring the community forward to succeed in life and in the hereafter.

“Learning about the Quran enables one to be the best person and to succeed in this world and the hereafter. It strengthen­s the soul in facing various challenges in this sophistica­ted, modern world.

“The activities held under the Islamic education are considered a success when these participan­ts show a strong and healthy body, calm spirit and are knowledgea­ble and I am proud to see the increase in number of participan­ts compared to last year,” she said during the closing of the event at Pustaka Miri on Wednesday.

The champions for the primary schools categories were Muhamad Izzi Mukhali of SK Agama ( Tilawah Al Quran – boys), Nur Zarra Nazirah Zulhazizi of SK Agama ( Tilawah Al Quran – girls), Muhammad Husnul Rafiqi Mohamad Johari of SK Agama ( Hafazan – boys), Nur Qaleesy Alya Ridzuan of SK Agama ( Hafazan – girls), Muhammad Adib Hazeem of SK Lutong (Story Telling based on Al-Quran – boys) and Nur Aisyah Aifa Adly Munzir of SK Jalan Bintang (Story Telling based on Al-Quran – girls).

Meanwhile for the secondary schools categories, the champions were Muhamad Izz Mukhali of SMK Agama ( Tilawah – boys), Qathrunnas­uha Mazlan of SMK Agama ( Tilawah – girls), Syaiful Bahri Othman of SM Sains (Hafazan – boys), Nur Aida Yuhanis Hafidin of SMK Agama ( Hafazan – girls), Muhammad Atif Asyrul Jafar of SM Sains (Syarahan – boys) and Eisya Sofea Embran of SM Sains ( Syarahan – girls).

For Nasyid, the champions for both primary and secondary schools were team D’Khalifah of SK Anchi and team Soultul Falihin of SMK Agama.
