Education Office to continue support teachers in facing future challenges

-

BINTULU: The Education Office (PPD) here will continue to provide professional support to every school in preparing their teachers to face future challenges.

PPD Bintulu District officer Fred Entau said a performance dialogue was conducted after every public examination to guide the schools especially teachers on their current performance and their future direction.

“During the dialogue, we will analyse the overall performance of our students, we look at their weaknesses, their disciplinary record and their attendance in school.

“After that we will propose a suitable intervention for teachers to improve the performance,” he said during SMK Bintulu Excellent Award 2018 presentation ceremony at the school hall recently.

Apart from that, he said PPD also brings in counsellors to look into the teaching and learning process including inviting exemplary teachers from outside to share their knowledge with the local teaching staff.

Meanwhile, Fred congratulated SMK Bintulu for organising the award ceremony which has become part of its tradition.

“I can see the positive impact from this event, it gives extra motivation to our students to achieve bigger success in the future. This is the time we celebrate the success in the context of quality and quantity of our students,” he added.

Teaching in a big school with student population reaching 4,000 was not easy and quite challenging but the teachers had been outstanding by turning the challenges into opportunities. This has been proven in the overall performance of their students in examinations.

He thus congratulated the 52 outstanding teachers who received Certificate of Appreciation during the event.

Fred also called on the parents through the school’s ParentTeacher Association ( PTA) to give more input and support.

The school senior assistant (administration)AbuOthmanRoss who represented school principal Ananthan Subramaniam, on the other hand hoped the good collaboration between the school and PTA can be further enhanced.

“The support from parents is vital to boost the spirit of our teaching staff to do more and achieve further success in the future,” he said.

For the students, he said they still have a long way to go and advised them to pick the right pathway for a better future and they can also get proper advices from the counselling teachers.
